Use

 

Guanidine thiocyanate is a high purity biochemical reagent, which is widely used in the field of molecular biology. It does not contain detectable nuclease and protease activity, and is also a powerful protein denaturant because both its cations and anions are ionizing agents.

Effect

 

Guanidine thiocyanate is an uncoupling agent that dissolves proteins and is mainly used to lyse cells and release proteins and nucleic acid materials within cells to extract RNA and DNA.

Synthesis method

 

The synthesis method of guanidine thiocyanate includes the following processes:

(1) Put guanidine carbonate and ammonium sulfate into the reaction kettle according to the weight ratio of 2:1, and react at the appropriate temperature for a certain time to obtain guanidine thiocyanate crude.

(2) The guanidine thiocyanate is dissolved in water at a ratio of 0.5:1 and dissolved at room temperature.

(3) Impurities such as raw materials and reaction by-products are removed by filtration.

(4) Dehydrate the filtered mother liquor at high temperature.

(5) The solution is cooled and concentrated and crystallized to obtain high-purity guanidine thiocyanate.
