DICY is more and more widely used in the field of plastic flame retardant, it is named dicyandiamide cyanurate (DICY-CA), and is compounded with piperazine pyrophosphate (PiPP) for flame retardant of PP resin. As an organic peroxide, DICY has a high decomposition temperature, strong oxidation and the ability to generate highly reactive free radicals, so it can fully play a flame retardant role. PiPP has a good flame retardant effect due to the presence of phosphorus, nitrogen, bromine and other elements.When DICY-CA is compounded with PiPP, the flame retardant properties are further improved by forming a complex in the PP resin. The main principle is that DICY-CA can form an organic-inorganic hybrid system with PiPP, which provides a longer composite decomposition path, thereby preventing the formation and transfer of gas-phase free radicals, delaying the flame propagation rate, and playing an effective flame retardant role. At the same time, this composite material has good heat resistance and chemical stability, and will not adversely affect the original properties of PP resin.
Compared with traditional flame retardants, the advantages of DICY-CA/PiPP are mainly reflected in the following aspects:
1. Flame retardant effect is remarkable. DICY-CA/PiPP compound can effectively reduce the combustion rate of plastics and the speed of flame spread, effectively reduce the release of smoke and toxic gases, and improve the safety of personnel and equipment.
2. Good heat resistance. DICY-CA has a high decomposition temperature in composite materials, which can resist thermal decomposition in a high-temperature environment and maintain a good flame retardant effect.
